Fashion W/ Passion Final

I decided to go with the red, with some helpful feeback from friends and coworkers. I cleaned it up a lot, and although the preview you are about to see doesn't reflect it as well as the final version I fine tuned a lot of aspects of the image, making edges smoother and what not. I put in the work order for the print today, so hopefully the posters will be up on walls by this time next week.

Final version:

My next order of business is the balls off the walls poster for the nov 20th event, I'm hoping to have it done and off to print by mid next week. I don't like my current progress on the poster but that is how I usually feel at this point in the design stage. So stay tuned and I'll hopefully have a near completed version of Balls off the Walls next week.

Fashion w/ Passion ads

Hello visitor,
Its been a while since my last post. I've been rather busy with school and what not, and my designs have been a little slow. Regardless I've been tasked with Fashion with Passion poster advertisements. I've made one, and can't really decide which one I like better the blue or the red, the blue one is a bit more busy but I think the red may go a bit better with the poster... however the red one does seem a little too red if that makes any sense to you. Anyway I'd appreciate any feedback in the comments.

Oh and check out the RHA website, I've made a lot of changes and it is much further along than it was a few weeks ago. So give me some feedback on that as well if you have the time.

Thank you.

Woot Off

Well starting at 10 PM last night there began a woot-off at woot.com. For those of you who don't know what a woot-off is, please refer to this link.

so while waiting a ridiculously long time for the vacuum to sell out, and entertaining myself in the discussion I made a few "do not want" images. I was hoping to get some lulz, but I failed to receive any feedback. Anyway, I thought I would post them anyway as one or two of them have decent creativity, some were very simple and some more complex (like the diablo one).

Enjoy.

Neon Nights Concept

Well I spent some time today designing and creating an early image for the Neon Nights Poster. Neon Nights should be one of the first events RHA will host for Fall 2008. Anyway, take a look at the image below and let me know what you think in the comments. Thanks.

Anti-aliasing

Well, I dunno if anyone looked at the image below, but the edges are horribly jaggy. Don't think Half-Life 2 model viewer puts much AA on the models when it shows it to me. Anyway, so I decided to manually Anti-alias the image, and it looks significantly different so I decided to re-upload it. Please leave some feedback in the comments. Thank you.

summer time

Well, summer is almost up. and I'm sitting here and reflecting on the fact that I did little to nothing all summer. I guess I'll start being productive when I get back to school. Anyway, I'll end this post with one little image I created in photoshop earlier today. Its a image for my counter-strike team. and I thought it was pretty cool, so let me know what you think in the comments.

Roadtrip Posters

Although roadtrip signups have already started, I've made two posters and I couldn't decide which one was better so we're printing them both. Let me know what you think via comments. Thanks :)

Postsecret

Postsecret was a great sucess with a large turnout consisting of unlv students as well as the public. We couldn't take any pictures during his presentation but I took a few afterwards of him signing books. Not too many of them came out very well but of the ones that did you can see them at the link below.

Sparta Lady Image

I found a picture that won a pulitzer of a lady that appears to be holding off an army... you can find the picture here: http://digg.com/politics/Never_Give_Up_PIC_5.

I took the photo and slightly modified it so that it would be a bit more appropriate. Let me know what you think in the comments :)

Block Party Pictures + updates

Block Party was a big success last Saturday, and was a lot of fun for everyone who attended. I took about 70 pictures and have 68 of them up on facebook now. I have the links listed below, my profile isn't private so I don't think anyone who isn't my friend on facebook will have any problems viewing the photos.

I had a Computer Science test today, that I hope I did well on considering I thought the test would be next week. I'm not too worried about it as cs is probably my easiest class.

I was awarded by my supervisor the NRHH First Year Student of the Month Award the other day. I got a nice pen and a letter.

I also managed to finish the second Post Secret ad. Which can be seen below, Any comments are encouraged.

And thats about it for the week, I'll make another post soon when I have more to talk about/show.

PostSecret ad

With school starting back up this week I've been kept pretty busy. As the semester's end becomes closer and closer my chances of passing calculus become less and less.

Besides struggling to learn and working I did get a few things done this week. Finalized a simple Postsecret ad that will hopefully be in print soon, posted a few things up on ebay, and played through Half-Life:Blue Shift to name a few things.

Block Party is tomorrow, so that will be a big event, and hopefully when that is done I'll be able to finalize a second post secret ad and get some work done on the website. So expect some decent updates in the next week or so (I speak like I have an audience that frequents this page (0_o) ).

New RHA Website

Well I pulled an all nighter last night to finish the layout for the new rha layout. Created it all from scratch, and although it still needs to be coded with scripts and what not (my php is rusty so it will take me a little while) the layout is pretty much complete.

I had a ton of compatibility problems with IE, and had to make a separate banner, and background, and stylesheet just for Internet explorer to make the website work in Opera, Firefox, and IE (those are the only three I tested, if anyone could report from other browsers I'd appreciate it)

Anyway, if you want to check it out click the link below, and remember the sites not done yet, just the layout (banner probably has to be redone as well). Leave me some feedback in the comments.

Block Party Poster

I submited the block party 08 poster for print today... so I thought I would upload a copy. Let me know what you think in the comments.

I'm working on the rha website and post secret posters, so expect previews/final copies of those in the coming week or so. Also hoping to get ds coding done during spring break, so maybe even some crappy little homebrew project as well.

First Post

Hi, My name is Mike Hedden and this is my blog. TRIPLEhelix is my internet alias use it for most online gaming, forums, and other stuff that ends up on the web. I don't have a lot of time on my hands but I'm going to try and keep this blog somewhat updated. It's planned to be more of a portfolio of projects I've got going on than a blog, but that may change if I develop a blogger voice.

Let me tell you a bit about myself and what I got going on. I'm a Freshman at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, majoring in computer science, and pretty involved. I have a job at the front desk of my dorm, and I'm also on the Executive Board of the Resident Hall Association.

I plan to use this blog to post up news about programs that I have running through school, computer program development projects, and graphic design work. As well as some minor things here and there. I'm trying to learn to program homebrew for my Nindendo DS, and hopefully if that goes smoothly I can make some homebrew projects for my Wii as well.

Now I don't have anything to leave you with today, but I'm hoping to have a poster that I designed finished so I can put it up tomorrow night. So you will get a sneak peak at it before it hits the printer.

If you got this far, thanks for reading and hopefully I can give you some projects worth your time and interest in the future.
